形态描述：灌木，高1-3米；小枝圆柱形，稍微弯曲，红褐色或紫褐色，无毛；有细直皮刺，常密生针刺，有时无刺。小叶3-7，连叶柄长7-14厘米；小叶片宽椭圆形或长圆形，长1.5-5厘米，宽8-25毫米，先端急尖或圆钝，基部近圆形，稀宽楔形，边缘有单锯齿或不明显重锯齿，上面深绿色，无毛，中脉和侧脉稍微下陷，下面淡绿色，中脉和侧脉均突起，有柔毛，沿中脉较密；叶柄和叶轴有柔毛、腺毛和稀疏皮刺；托叶大部贴生于叶柄，离生部分宽卵形，边缘有腺齿，下面被柔毛。花单生或2-3朵集生，苞片卵形至卵状披针形，先端渐尖或尾尖，边缘有腺齿或缺刻，花梗长2-3.5厘米，无毛，密被腺毛；花直径3.5-5厘米；萼筒长椭圆形，光滑无毛或有腺毛；萼片披针形，先端常扩展成叶状，外面有腺毛或稀疏刺毛，内面密被柔毛；花瓣粉红色，芳香，倒卵形，先端微凹，基部宽楔形；花柱离开，被毛，比雄蕊短。果梨形、长椭圆形或倒卵球形，直径1-1.5厘米，有明显颈部，红色，有光泽，有腺或无腺。花期6-7月，果期7-9月。
